Dear all,
thanks for all the good advice. I now went through the whole
installation procedure again: installing all additional packages and
then tried again to compile cwb from source alongside the instructions
available online. However,
the ./configure command does not work successfully without giving me a
hint on what went wrong:

gertrud at faasz-desktop:/usr/bin/cwb-2.2.b99-RC1/editline$ sudo ./configure
creating cache ./config.cache

I would be very thankful if someone could provide the installation
procedure (s)he used.

All the best

Gertrud
