Re 1 – no.

Re 2 – I’m not sure I follow. You don’t need a file. You just specify it on the new-corpus form to avoid filling in the “S-attributes (corpus XML)” . The file-picker there is for the corpus input data. Are you perhaps confusing the XML templates with the metadata templates? (which do need an input file, ie, one with the metadata in it)

Re 3 – you can do this directly on the SQL client, but there’s no tool for it.

best

Andrew.

Subject: [CWB] [CQPweb] Using XML templates

I'm trying to use XML templates in CQPweb for the first time, but there's very little documentation out there, so I'm sort of flying blind. Some questions:

1. Is it possible to export the XML metadata from an already-made corpus into a template?

2. Once I've made the XML template, it seems I need a file to actually use it. What is the purpose of this file? What should it contain? Where can I find more info on this?

3. Is there any way to export templates for backup, use on other machines, etc.?

Thanks!
Scott
