[CWB] CQPweb error: CWB registry dir seems not to exist or is not readable

Another obvious potential culprit: AppArmor which controls, on an opt-in basis, what paths a program can access and usually blocks everything except the program's "own" folder **EVEN IF** the program's username has all the correct permissions.

(because what do you do to improve the security of a file permissions system? why, create another, totally separate permissions system and have them both run simultaneously and utterly oblivious to one another! according to the linux distro pointyheads at least.)

If this is indeed the problem, manual section 1.10.1 has the steps to switch it off.

best

Andrew

Hi Simon,

Just to be sure: Have you checked whether /home/service is readable by user www-data? After all, it sounds as if it is user service's home directory.

Best wishes,
Peter

Betreff: [CWB] CQPweb error: CWB registry dir seems not to exist or is not readable

Hi,

after the problems with Docker I set up another ,normal' Apache server with CQPweb, but I am still facing problems.

When I try to install a pre-indexed corpus in CQPweb, I get the following error:

> ERROR: CWB registry dir ``/home/service/cqpweb_files/registry'' seems not to exist, or is not readable!

However, the directory does exist and I think I set the right permissions:

> root at fussballlingui: /home/service/cqpweb_files/ [ 15:18:50 ] [0] # ls
> -l total 0 drwxrwxrwx 1 www-data www-data 6 Sep 27 14:12 data
> drwxrwxrwx 1 www-data www-data 0 Sep 27 11:59 databases drwxrwxrwx 1
> www-data www-data 6 Sep 27 14:01 registry drwxrwxrwx 1 www-data
> www-data 0 Sep 27 11:59 temp drwxrwxrwx 1 www-data www-data 0 Sep 27
> 11:59 uploads

and

> root at fussballlingui: /home/service/cqpweb_files/registry/
> [ 15:19:08 ] [0] # ls -l
> total 4
> -rwxrwxrwx 1 www-data www-data 1587 Sep 27 14:13 nzz

with ,nzz' being working registry file. When I call cqp from the command line, everything works fine.

Thanks in advance and best regards
Simon
