That's definitely the best choice because XML annotations can be visualised in the context display and is easy to query.  Add any relevant information as attributes in the XML start tags.

The only drawback is that anaphora cannot be linked to their antecedents.  This will only be possible in a version of CQPweb that builds on the Ziggurat data model.
