[CWB] Upgrading from.. ehem... Ubuntu Server LTS 18.04

Hi all!

My corpus server has been running perfectly fine, and without interruption,
for the last eight years. So if it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?

But there have been countless security patches and upgrades to Ubuntu and
improvements to CWB in this time, so I'd like to upgrade both. I tried to
upgrade Ubuntu, but it entirely broke CWB (fortunately, I had a full image
backup to restore from). I tried it the other way around and it also broke.

So can anybody give me some advice on how to do this properly?
