[CWB] [External] Re: CQPWebInABox: Blank Page for Frequency Breakdown and Sort

Hmm, that's a PHP version error, caused by running PHP v5 when the software expects v7.

CQPweb 3.2.33+ needs PHP 7.0 at least. 3.3.0+ needs PHP 7.1.

This means updating the version of PHP on the VM I'm afraid.

(Also: I don't actually recall what version of Debian/Ubuntu is on the VM, but it is almost certainly now out of date in numerous ways other than just the available version of PHP. So I'd bite the bullet and do a full dist upgrade.)

Andrew.

This email originated outside the University. Check before clicking links or attachments.

Okay, I got a copy of the latest branch using svn export and copied it over the existing installation, as it says in the manual, but that breaks everything. The log mentions:

[Thu May 14 11:10:02.821288 2020] [:error] [pid 1415] [client ::1:40604] PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function random_int() in /var/www/html/cqpweb/lib/environment.php on line 374

Am I doing it wrong or is there anything else I have to consider? Sorry for my cluelessness.

Best,

Florian

Ah, this is a known bug that affected earlier versions of 3.2 including, apparently, that on the VM image but has since been fixed. Apologies that there have not been more regular VM releases; not enough hours in the day I'm afraid. You can solve the problem by upgrading to 3.2.42 (on the 3.2-latest branch in the Svn repo). Or, by waiting for the next image (coming real soon now).

Andrew.

Thanks for the quick reply! I attached the log. Seems like it is indeed the same problem.

Does /var/log/apache2/error.log contain anything illuminating?

Dear all,

Since I'm completely new to CWB and CQPweb, I first wanted to give CQPWebInABox a try. I managed to import the Esmeralda 2016-03-21 Version (which I hope is the most recent one) in VirtualBox and started playing around with the preinstalled corpora when I noticed that neither the frequency breakdown nor sort functionalities seem to work; I just get a blank page. Is there anything I'm missing? I found a thread where somebody had a similar problem but I'm not sure whether what was said about CQPWeb also applies to my case.

Best,

Florian
